Every year or so, the carpet should also be deep cleaned using a steamer. These can be purchased or rented. Remove any furniture from the room. If an item cannot be moved, protect its base and legs with pieces of tinfoil or the cleaning solution may damage the wood or fabric. Make slow, steady movements with the cleaner, hitting each place at least twice. Change the water as it becomes dirty. Once you finish, open all doors and windows to speed drying, and don’t return the furniture until the floor is completely dry.
